Valkaria, named for the Valkyries of Norse legend, is the inland half of the Town of Grant-Valkaria. The two communities incorporated together in 2006. Landmarks include Valkaria Airport, a World War II Navy landing field that Brevard County has run as a public airport since 1959, and the county's Habitat Golf Course next to it. Many homes sit on acre-plus lots. (Valkaria Airport)

On large lots west of US 1 the private well is usually the only water supply. Deeper wells here typically use submersible pumps, and a few things cause most failures:
- Lightning. Open country and summer storms are hard on pump motors and control boxes.
- Long wire runs from the house to a well far out on the property, where voltage drop and damaged cable show up.
- Livestock and irrigation demand that keeps pumps running for hours in dry months.
If the taps are dry, start with our no water checklist and call.
Common questions
Is Valkaria different from Grant-Valkaria?
Valkaria is one of the two communities that make up the Town of Grant-Valkaria. We cover the whole town.
Does a well far from the house cause problems?
It can. Long wire runs are more exposed to voltage drop and damage, which a contractor will test for.
Can you help with a well that also feeds animals?
Yes. Tell us what the well supplies so the pump and tank are sized right.
